Weather: Amarnath Yatra suspended due to heavy rains; Badrinath Highway closed in Chamoli, Uttarakhand; cloudburst in Pithoragarh


The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rains in all the states of the country except Bihar and Telangana in the next 24 hours. Amarnath Yatra has been suspended due to heavy rains and bad weather in Jammu and Kashmir. 


Badrinath Highway is also closed due to falling of stones from the mountains in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. This highway has been closed for the fourth time in the last 10 days.


Amarnath Yatra stopped on both routes


Amarnath Yatra has been suspended on both Pahalgam and Baltal routes due to bad weather in Jammu and Kashmir. Pilgrims have been stopped at Baltal and Nunwan base camps. Officials have told that the yatra will be resumed as soon as the weather improves. So far more than 80 thousand people have visited Amarnath.


Cloudburst washed away bridge in Dharchula in Pithoragarh


A cloudburst washed away a bridge in Dharchula in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand on Friday. Here 200 people are trapped in Chal village. The SDRF team going to rescue is also trapped.


13 people lost their lives due to lightning in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.


Red alert issued in Kannur and Kasaragod


It is raining continuously in many districts of Kerala. Red alert has been issued in Kannur and Kasaragod. The low-lying areas of Alappuzha have been flooded. Here the boats were seen rowing on the roads. More than one thousand people have been shifted to relief camps.


Possibility of heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh


There is a possibility of heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh for two to three days. There is an alert of heavy rain on Friday in more than 60% of the state. There will be heavy rains in 38 districts including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur. According to meteorologists, there may be two and a half to four inches of rain in these districts. At many places, 6 people have died in incidents of lightning.


45 roads closed in Himachal


In Himachal Pradesh, heavy rains occurred in many areas during the last 24 hours amid orange alert. About 45 roads were closed due to landslides. The mountain fell on the road in Kenhwal village of Mandi. The roof of the under-construction building of the Gurdwara collapsed at Rajgarh in Sirmaur around 8:30 pm on Thursday night.


Heavy rain will occur in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Sikkim, West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.


Light to moderate rain with lightning may occur over Bihar, Telangana and Jammu and Kashmir.


The weather will be clear in these states: Rayalaseema of Andhra Pradesh, Marathawad of Maharashtra and Gangetic West Bengal are not expected to witness rainfall activities.
