Kullu: Over two dozen more houses are at risk after eight houses collapsed in Anni area of Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district. Sensing the danger, the administration today handed over notices to three more building owners to vacate their houses. Altogether 26 building owners have been asked to vacate.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu will meet the affected families here and give necessary directions to the officials regarding relief and rehabilitation work.
Earlier on Thursday, eight buildings collapsed like cards, while three buildings are still hanging in the air, which can collapse anytime. The houses around them have also become unsafe.
Panic gripped Anni town in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday morning after four buildings on a hillside came crashing down, along with trees and rubble.
55 families displaced, business of over 25 shopkeepers affected
So far more than 55 families have been displaced due to building collapse and evacuation, while the business of more than 25 shopkeepers has been affected. Loss of crores of rupees is being estimated in Kullu bus stand.
It was a matter of relief that buildings had already been evacuated. So there was no loss of life. People standing at the bus stand at the time of the accident saved their lives by running and jumping. After this incident, the people of the area are panicking. Especially those whose houses are close to the collapsed buildings.
