Festive, Religious Zeal Grips People As Bhopal Gears Up To Celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi From Tuesday


Bhopal: Chants of "Ganapati Bappa Morya" will resonate the Madhya Pradesh capital from Tuesday as Bhopal gears up to celebrate the ten-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival. Beautifully decorated pandals with Ganesha idols in different moods are being put up throughout the city.

 


Ganesha idols in myriads of shapes and sizes are being sold in the markets and prominent roads. People could be seen in large numbers buying Ganesh idols from makeshift shops, stalls and roadside sellers that were displaying different types of idols of the elephant-headed God.

 


"This season every individual can afford to take home a Ganesha with him. The idols we have sculpted are ranging from Rs 50 to 1000. No one will be disappointed and can buy one as per his budget," says a sculptor at New Market.

 


The festive celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi is fancied by the young and elderly. Residents of various colonies and housing societies irrespective of their age are actively giving a final shape to the cultural programmes and religious events for the coming days.

 


Regarding Ganesh Chaturthi, the government and administration are continuously issuing guidelines to celebrate Ganesh Puja in a eco-friendly manner and not to use POP in idols. So that the environment remains safe. In such a situation, a sculptor from the capital Bhopal Kanta Yadav has made the idols of Lord Ganesha in a unique way this time using cow dung (Gobar).

 


The festival brings along with it the essence of togetherness, says a young housewife in Arera Colony. Ganesh Chaturthi is an opportunity to break from the shackles of monotony and sedentary lifestyle, she added.

 


Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayak Chaturthi or Ganeshotsav, is a major Hindu festival celebrated with immense zeal and grandeur throughout India. This auspicious event commemorates the birth of Lord Ganesha, who is often referred to as the god of wisdom, prosperity, and new beginnings.
