Team India has been announced for the ODI World Cup-2023. BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar announced the names of 15 players of the team. Team captain Rohit Sharma was also present along with Ajit Agarkar in the press conference held in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
Out of the 18 members of India's team that was selected for the Asia Cup currently going on in Sri Lanka, 15 players have been retained in the World Cup team. Tilak Verma, Prasidh Krishna and Sanju Samson, who are in the Asia Cup team, have not been able to make it to the World Cup team. Yuzvendra Chahal has also not got a chance in the team.
India's first match against Australia
The ODI World Cup to be played in India is starting from 5th October. India's first match will be against Australia on October 8 at Chepauk ground in Chennai.
ODI World will be held in October-November, in which 48 matches will be played. The first match will be held on October 5 in Ahmedabad between the winner and runner-up of the previous World Cup, England and New Zealand.
There will be 45 matches of the group stage till 12th November. Two semi-finals will be played on 15 and 16 November and the final will be played in Ahmedabad on 19 November.
Arch-rivals will clash in Ahmedabad
Arch-rivals India and Pakistan will clash on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
