Madhya Pradesh: Randeep Surjewala made this grave allegation against BJP's Shivraj government about electricity bill waiver

Bhopal: Congress' Madhya Pradesh election in-charge and senior leader Randeep Surjewala has made grave accusations against the BJP's Shivraj government. The major allegation related to waiver of people’s electricity bills. Surjewala presented a letter from the Madhya Pradesh government as evidence, stating that no consumer's electricity bill in the state has been waived, despite Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's public commitment to waive the bills of those facing high charges. Chouhan had even pledged the government would pay the bill during a meeting in Naugaon, Bundelkhand.

Bills postponed not waived

According to the letter issued by the Madhya Pradesh government, outstanding bills of consumers with a one-kilowatt load have not been waived. Instead, they have been postponed until a later date. The letter also indicates that these deferred bills will be collected following an investigation. In essence, the bills have been temporarily delayed until after the elections, at which point they will be reclaimed from the public, just as they were before.

Randeep Surjewala has accused the Shivraj government of deceiving the public, alleging that people have been misled in the name of electricity bill waiver. The Shivraj government has not waived anyone's electricity bill, according to Surjewala. He further contends that the government has only postponed the bills for consumers with a load of up to one kilowatt. However, even in this case, consumers have been cheated. Without their knowledge, their electricity load was recently increased from one kilowatt to two or three kilowatts, rendering them ineligible for the deferred bill benefit. This change affects approximately 18 to 20 lakh consumers.

Congress monitoring officials who do not operate transparently

Surjewala has also claimed that there are numerous government officials in Madhya Pradesh who support the BJP and work to appease them. The Congress party is closely monitoring such officials who do not operate transparently and seem more focused on pleasing BJP ministers. If the Congress comes into power, these officials' actions will be scrutinized, and any wrongdoing will be met with appropriate action. The Congress government will assign crucial responsibilities to officers who demonstrate a commitment to serving the public with transparency.
