Rajasthan Assembly Election 2023: CM Ashok Gehlot Said This About Caste Survey Along Lines Of Bihar

Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday night said that Rajasthan will conduct a caste survey along the lines of the one done in Bihar.

The issue was discussed at a core committee meeting of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee held at the party's war room in Jaipur.

The meeting was attended by Congress in-charge for Rajasthan Sukhjinder Randhawa, CM Gehlot, RPCC president Govind Singh Dotasra and other leaders.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot emphasized the importance of understanding the demographics of various castes and religions within the state. He mentioned that if they have data on the population of different castes, it would help them in designing specific schemes and plans for different groups. This suggests that the party may consider caste-based policies or programs in the future.

Gehlot said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's concept of caste survey and participation in proportion to the population would be furthered in the state.

Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project

The meeting also touched upon the issue of the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP). The Congress had initially planned to organize a five-day yatra (a public outreach campaign) in eastern Rajasthan to demand national project status for the ERCP, which would address irrigation and drinking water needs in 13 districts. However, this yatra was postponed.

The party's president, Dotasra, mentioned that a crucial meeting would be held to decide the dates for the yatra related to the ERCP issue. He also shared the slogan for the Congress' election campaign, which is "Kaam Kiya Dil Se, Congress Fir Se" (Work Done from the Heart, Congress Again).
