Virat Kohli is celebrating his 35th birthday today on Sunday and in many ways this birthday has proved to be special for him.
Kohli not only scored a century in 119 balls against South Africa in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match, but also equaled the record of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
Sachin Tendulkar has the record of scoring 49 centuries in ODIs. Today Kohli has equaled it.
On equaling the record of 49 centuries in ODI cricket, Virat Kohli has said that it is like a dream come true.
Speaking after his innings, Virat Kohli said, “Every opportunity to play for India is a big opportunity for me, but to achieve this on my birthday, in front of such a crowd, in front of fans, is like a dream come true. This is something that you dream of accomplishing in your childhood. I am grateful to God for this moment.”
Virat Kohli's wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma shared Kohli's picture on Instagram and wrote, "A gift to myself on my birthday."
Veteran cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has congratulated Virat Kohli on equaling his record.
Tendulkar has tweeted with the picture of Virat Kohli.
Tendulkar wrote, "Well played Virat. It took me 365 days to go from 49 to 50 earlier this year. I hope you go from 49 to 50 (centuries) and break my record in the next few days. Congratulations!!''
