In the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, security forces have successfully neutralized five Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists during an ongoing encounter, as reported by Kashmir Police on Friday.

The operation, jointly conducted by Kulgam Police, the Army, and CRPF, has entered its final stages, with the area currently undergoing sanitization. The official handle of Kashmir Zone Police stated, "Day 2: Five terrorists neutralized by Kulgam Police, Army, and CRPF. Incriminating materials were recovered. Exchange of heavy fire from across the border since Thursday afternoon

Although the operation is in its concluding phase, sources indicate that it is still in progress. The exchange of heavy fire between security forces and terrorists from across the border has persisted since Thursday afternoon in the Samno pocket of the DH Pora area in Kulgam district.

The joint anti-terrorism operation includes the Army's 34 Rashtriya Rifles, 9 Para (elite special forces unit), police, and the CRPF. Updates on the situation are anticipated as the operation unfolds.

Attempted infiltration in Uri Sector thwarted

In a related development on November 15, an attempted infiltration along the Line of Control in the Uri Sector was thwarted, as announced by the army. The joint operation by the army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, named 'Operation Kali,' successfully neutralized the infiltrators, marking the second thwarted infiltration bid in the region.

Bashir Ahmed Malik, identified as a key player in Pakistan-enabled cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, was among the two infiltrators eliminated by the security forces.
