Gujarat Heart Attack Deaths: 1052 people lost their lives in last six months, 80% of them were 11-25 years; what state govt is doing?

A total of 1052 people have lost their lives in Gujarat in the last six months due to heart attacks. Shockingly, around 80 per cent of the deceased were between 11 to 25 years.

Gujarat Education Minister Kuber Dindor has informed that 1052 people have lost their lives in Gujarat in the last 6 months due to heart attacks. Dindor said while speaking to the media in Gandhinagar recently.

Dindor highlighted the alarming fact that approximately 80% of the deceased fell within the age range of 11 to 25 years, and notably, exhibited no signs of obesity.

Youngsters are now living in fear

Dindor expressed concern over the situation, pointing out that the Emergency Service Ambulance (108) is inundated with over 173 cardiac emergency calls daily, with a significant number of victims being young individuals. The minister emphasized that youngsters are now living in fear due to the high incidence of heart attacks within their age group.

Teachers urged to participate in CPR training camps

He recounted instances of individuals succumbing to heart attacks while engaging in seemingly routine activities such as playing cricket or participating in garba. Urging teachers to participate in CPR training camps, Dindor emphasized the importance of equipping educators with life-saving skills.

2,500 medical experts and doctors will be present at CPR camps

In response to this crisis, the state Education Department plans to organize CPR training camps across 37 medical colleges from December 3 to 17. The initiative aims to provide training to nearly two lakh school and college teachers. Dindor disclosed that approximately 2,500 medical experts and doctors will be present at these camps, offering certificates to the participants.

Notably, similar training sessions had been conducted earlier for Bharatiya Janata Party workers and police personnel in the state, Dindor mentioned. The proactive approach seeks to address the escalating health crisis and empower educators with essential life-saving skills.
