(In Pics) Madhya Pradesh: Grand event of "Beating the Retreat 2024" concludes; Republic Day closing ceremony held in Bhopal in presence of Governor Mangubhai Patel


Bhopal: The Republic Day celebrations in the state concluded on Monday with “Beating the Retreat 2024” in the dignified presence of Governor Mangubhai Patel. This colorful program was organized at Motilal Nehru Stadium, Bhopal. 


The musical performances by the players of Police and Army Brass Band mesmerized the audience. The marchpast in step with the rhythm and the exciting tunes of patriotic songs made the program resonating. 


The venue was drenched in patriotic, melodious tunes composed of a blend of Indian classical music, Indian raga and western music. Beautiful colors of colorful lights and multicolored fireworks spread from ground to sky at the venue.


The program started with police brass band concert. On the arrival of Governor Mangubhai Patel, the police brass band first welcomed him by playing a tune. After his permission the police brass band concert started.


The concert started with the song “Vande Mataram” by Police Brass Band under the leadership of Sunil Katare. The musical journey included “Yeh Shaam Mastani”, “Teri Mitti”, “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”, “Mere Ghar Ram Aaye Hain”, “Lehra Do”, the tunes of the songs “The Final Countdown”, “Chhookar Mere Mann Ko”, “Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon” and “Chale Jaise Hawaayen”. The concert reached its climax with the tune of the song “Jai Ho”.


At the end of the ceremony, the police and army bands gave a joint presentation of slow march to the tune of “Jal Pakshi” and display on the songs of “Dil Diya Hai Jaan Bhi Denge”. A drum roll was played to announce the conclusion of the retreat. 


At the end of the program the national flag was lowered. After the descent, the national flag was carried by a contingent of women police officers. It is noteworthy that for the first time a contingent of women officers was deployed in the state to hoist the national flag.


It is noteworthy that “Beating the Retreat” is an ancient tradition of military and paramilitary forces. In India, this program is considered the last step of Republic Day celebrations. Apart from the country's capital Delhi, the “Beating the Retreat” ceremony is organized only in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh.
