Madhya Pradesh: Indore Railway Station Embarks on a Lavish Transformation, Poised to Rival Airports with Roof Plaza and Lounge


Indore (Madhya Pradesh): As part of the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 553 railway projects nationwide, including 33 in Madhya Pradesh. 


The comprehensive initiative encompasses the redevelopment of railway stations, construction of overpasses, and underpasses. Notably, the financial hub of Madhya Pradesh, Indore, is set to undergo a transformation into the opulent "Amrit Station" at an estimated cost of Rs 494.29 crore.


Indore to Boast Luxurious Airport-like Railway Station


Indore railway station is among the 553 stations earmarked for redevelopment under the "Pradhan Mantri Amrit Bharat Station Scheme," launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking at the station's program, local MP Shankar Lalwani revealed, "The city's railway station will be revamped with a budget of Rs 494.29 crore, featuring modern facilities akin to those found in airports. The project is slated to be completed in approximately 42 months."


Grand Entry Gate, Roof Plaza, and Executive Lounge to Redefine Indore's Railway Station


Lalwani outlined the forward-looking redevelopment project, designed to accommodate the anticipated influx of one lakh passengers daily over the next 50 years. The plans include an air-conditioned waiting room for 1,000 passengers, a stunning entry gate, a roof plaza, an executive lounge, and a platform cover shed. 


The station will also feature 23 lifts, 17 escalators, underground parking, and three cargo lifts. Lalwani highlighted the station's commitment to sustainability, noting that 10 percent of its total electricity consumption will be sourced from solar power plants.
