Avalanche in Manali, Himachal Pradesh; weather will be like this in next 24 hrs across country

An avalanche occurred in Manali on Saturday amid continuous snowfall in Himachal. Due to this, many vehicles overturned on Manali-Solangnala road near Nehru Kund. There is no news of any casualty. However, traffic on the road has been closed due to debris.

Many areas in HP under blanket of snow


Heavy snowfall, ranging from 4 to 6 inches, has blanketed key areas in Himachal, including Atal Tunnel, Rohtang, Keylong, Jispa, Darcha, Koksar, and Lahaul Valley. Atal Tunnel has temporarily suspended vehicular movement, with 228 roads closed in Lahaul Spiti.

Across the country, there's a blend of snowfall in the mountains and rain in the plains. Over the last 24 hours, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh have experienced continuous rain and snowfall, prompting a red alert in both states. In response to adverse weather conditions, all schools in Rajouri district are closed today.

Landslides in J&K

In J&K, landslides occurred in various spots between Banihal and Ramban sectors, resulting in the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. Snowfall has also halted traffic on multiple roads, including Srinagar-Leh, Mughal Road, Sinthan-Kishtwar, Bandipora-Gurez, and Kupwara-Tangdhar routes.

Light drizzle in MP and Delhi

There was light drizzle in Madhya Pradesh and Delhi on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. There was heavy rain with strong thunderstorm in Uttar Pradesh. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of rain, thunderstorm and hailstorm in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi today. There is a possibility of drizzle in Bihar, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Sikkim, West Bengal and Maharashtra.

Weather conditions during the next 24 hours

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and North Madhya Pradesh. There may be rain with thunderstorm, lightning and strong winds in Delhi. There is an alert of heavy rain at some places in Punjab.

There is a possibility of rain with thundershowers, lightning and strong winds with speed of 40 to 50 km per hour in Punjab and Haryana.

Hail may occur along with rain in East Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh. Light rain is possible over parts of Gujarat and North Central Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

Heavy to very heavy snowfall may occur in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. There is also an alert of hailstorm in different areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
