Paris Olympics 2024: Players from Russia, Belarus will not be part of opening ceremony

The International Olympic Committee has said that players from Russia and Belarus will not participate in the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games-2024 to be held in Paris this year.

The committee said about this, “These players are participating individually but they will be given the opportunity to experience this event.”

So far, 12 players with Russian passport and 7 players with Belarus passport have applied to participate in the Paris Olympics.

After Russia attacked Ukraine in February 2022, players from these two countries have been banned from participating in the Olympic Games. However, players from both the countries can participate in the games as neutral i.e. without being a part of any country.

According to the conditions of the Paris Olympic Committee, these players will have to participate without their national flag, national emblem and national anthem.
