Ramzan begins; Muslims observe first Roza with enthusiasm in Bhopal


Bhopal: The holy month of Ramadan commenced in Bhopal on Tuesday with Muslims joyously observing the first Roza (fast). The city has come alive with the spirit of Ramadan as Muslims partake in the month-long religious observance marked by fasting, prayer, and community gatherings.


As the sun set over Bhopal, Muslims gathered in mosques across the city to offer Tarawih prayers, officially commencing the month of fasting. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of spirituality and unity as families and friends came together to break their fasts, known as Iftar, after a day of abstaining from food and drink.


Shops selling a variety of Iftari items have sprung up


Throughout the city, shops selling a variety of Iftari items such as Nukti, fruits, sewaiyan (vermicelli), and other traditional delicacies have sprung up, catering to the needs of the Muslim community during this sacred month. Streets are adorned with colorful lights and decorations, creating a festive ambiance that reflects the significance of Ramzan.



Markets remained bustling with activity


Muslims from all walks of life were seen shopping for Iftar essentials, exchanging warm greetings, and sharing the joyous spirit of the holy month. The markets remained bustling with activity well into the night as families prepared for their pre-dawn Suhoor meals and gathered items for Iftar.



'Ramadan is a time of reflection, self-discipline'


One of the shopkeepers, Abdul Khan, shared his excitement about the holy month, saying, "Ramadan is a time of reflection, self-discipline, and community. We are delighted to see our fellow citizens coming together to celebrate this sacred month. The demand for Iftari items has been tremendous, and it warms our hearts to contribute to the festivities."



Muslims also engaging in acts of charity


Muslims in Bhopal are not only observing the physical act of fasting but also engaging in acts of charity, kindness, and increased devotion during Ramzan. Many have expressed their dedication to strengthening their connection with Allah and fostering a sense of compassion and empathy for those less fortunate.


As the city sleeps, many Muslims continue to stay awake in the late hours for additional prayers and spiritual contemplation. The peaceful and serene atmosphere during these nights is a testament to the deep spiritual significance that Ramadan holds for the Muslim community in Bhopal.
