Ujjain News: Ban on use of color, gulal in Mahakal temple on Rangpanchami, this is how festival will be celebrated

Ujjain: The festival of Rangpanchami will be celebrated symbolically at the Jyotirlinga Mahakal temple on Saturday. In the Bhasma Aarti at 4 am, the priest will offer only one pot of color made of saffron and Tesu flowers to Lord Mahakal.

In the evening, as per tradition, Mahakaleshwar Dhwaj Chal Samaroh will be taken out. It is noteworthy that during the Bhasma Aarti on the day of Dhulendi in the Mahakal temple, a fire broke out in the sanctum sanctorum due to excessive use of chemical-laden gulal. 14 people including priests were injured in this.

Taking a lesson from the accident, the temple administration has banned priests and devotees from playing with colours on Rangpanchami. Visitors coming for Bhasma Aarti will not be able to bring colors and gulal with them. Devotees will be allowed to enter the temple only after strict checking at the entry gates.

A pot of natural colors will be provided to the priests

To follow the tradition of Rangpanchami, the temple committee will provide a pot of natural colors to the priests. Earlier, the priests used to prepare colors for playing Holi on Rangpanchami by filling two hundred liter drums with Tesu flowers. During Aarti, Holi was played with great enthusiasm in the sanctum sanctorum, Nandi Hall and the premises. This time the administration has completely banned this ruckus in the name of tradition.

Probe continues in Mahakal fire incident

After the initial report of the fire incident in Mahakal temple, the temple administrator has been changed at present. District Panchayat CEO Mrinal Meena has been given the charge in place of Sandeep Soni. Meanwhile, the investigation of the case is going on. The administration will also give notice to the security agency, temple employees, officials and some priests. Action will be taken against the culprits.
