Nine people have died in a road accident in Bemetra, Chhattisgarh. 22 others are injured in this accident, many of whom are in critical condition.
The District Magistrate said that "about 30 people from Patharra village of Bemetra were returning from a family function in a pickup." Late at night near Kathiya village, their pickup vehicle rammed into a truck already parked on the road.
"The collision was so severe that nine people died on the spot. Five women and three children were also among the dead. Apart from this, 22 people were seriously injured.
Victims identified
Those killed were identified as Bhuri Nishad (50), Neera Sahu (55), Geeta Sahu (60), Agniya Sahu (60), Khushbu Sahu (39), Madhu Sahu (5), Rikesh Nishad (6) and Twinkle Nishad (6), he said.
The injured persons were admitted to two hospitals. Later, four critically injured persons were shifted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raipur, he said.
