Lok Sabha Election 2024: BSP candidate for Betul Ashok Bhalavi dies of heart attack


Lok Sabha Election 2024: Tragic news emerges from Betul, Madhya Pradesh, as the Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Ashok Bhalavi has passed away following a heart attack. Consequently, the scheduled voting for April 26th has been postponed. 


Collector and District Election Officer Narendra Suryavanshi confirmed this and has notified the Election Commission accordingly. 


Chief Electoral Officer of Madhya Pradesh, Anupam Rajan, stated, "Following the demise of the BSP candidate, the electoral process for the Betul seat will be rescheduled, leading to a postponement of the Betul Lok Sabha seat election. The Election Commission will announce new dates for nomination and voting in due course." 


The voting, originally set for April 26th as part of the second phase, will now be rescheduled.


The late candidate, Ashok Bhalavi, who hailed from Sohagpur village in Betul, passed away on Tuesday afternoon. Born on June 5, 1975, he leaves behind four children. Bhalavi had been a longstanding member of the Bahujan Samaj Party and had contested the Lok Sabha elections under BSP's banner in 2019 as well.
