Lok Sabha elections-2024: Nitin Gadkari explains how NDA will cross 400 seats mark

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections-2024, additional seats will be added to the party's existing 288 seats from South India. Thus the Bharatiya Janata Party will achieve the target of 370 seats.

Nitin Gadkari said in Nagpur that he was certain that the BJP-led NDA alliance will cross the 400-seat mark.

"We have worked hard in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. We had very little presence in these states. This time we will do well in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. We have been performing well in north India. So, I feel the BJP will alone get 370 seats and the NDA will cross 400," Gadkari said.

The senior BJP leader said the people of the country want to see development and have faith in the leadership of Modi, which will be reflected in the elections.

Gadkari said that because of the concrete works done by the government in the last 10 years, Modi will take charge as Prime Minister for the third time.

However, he rejected allegations that the Modi government was using the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and CBI as 'weapons' to weaken the opposition.

Gadkari was also dismissive about the uproar over the revelations of donations made through electoral bonds and said it was but natural for the BJP, which is the ruling party, to get a major share in the donations.

He said that BJP's rivals should try to overcome adverse circumstances by winning the trust of the people.

Gadkari said, "Is it our responsibility to weaken or strengthen the opposition? When we had only two MPs and we were weak, we never got any package as sympathy."

Nitin Gadkari is contesting from Nagpur for the third consecutive time in the Lok Sabha elections.
