Madhya Pradesh Khajuraho Lok Sabha Seat: SP Candidate Meera Yadav's Nomination Rejected; Will BJP Candidate VD Sharma Get Walk Over?

Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh: The candidacy of Meera Deepak Yadav, representing the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Khajuraho, was rejected apparently due to incomplete documentation on Friday.

Reportedly, Meera Yadav's nomination papers were found lacking her signature, leading to their cancellation. Besides, it did not have certified copy of voter list with her name.

While the official explanation for rejection has not been disclosed, insider sources suggest candidate's nomination paper was not signed.

Meera Yadav had filed her nomination on April 4, the last date for submitting nominations. Today, on 5th April, her nomination has been cancelled.

Of the total 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh, the Congress party allocated the Khajuraho seat to its ally, Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party.  In such a situation cancellation of Meera's nomination is a big blow to INDIA alliance as NDA is likely to get a walk over.

BJP has fielded VD Sharma from this seat. In such a situation, VD Sharma is likely to get a walk over.

On the other hand, due to cancellation of nomination, Meera Yadav's husband Deepnarayan Yadav has made allegations of negligence. He said that her nomination has been deliberately rejected. Along with this, he also talked about going to the High Court and Supreme Court regarding this matter.

Meera Yadav has made allegation against government and administration. She said the BJP candidates are afraid of the support INDIA alliance candidates are getting.

Meera Yadav had replaced Manoj

On April 1, the Samajwadi Party underwent a change in its choice of candidate for the Khajuraho Lok Sabha seat. Initially, Manoj Yadav was selected, only to be replaced within two days by former MLA Meera Deepak Yadav. Simultaneously, Manoj Yadav was appointed as the state president of the party. Now, the nomination of MLA Meera Yadav has been invalidated.

Meera Yadav, a former MLA from the Niwadi constituency, has a political background. Her husband, Deep Narayan Singh Yadav, previously held the position of state president of the Samajwadi Party in Madhya Pradesh. He served as a legislator from the Garautha assembly constituency in Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh from 2007 to 2017.
