Will Sanjay Singh's Release Sway AAP's Fortunes in Upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024

A significant development unfolded as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and MP, Sanjay Singh, was granted conditional bail by the Supreme Court after spending six months in jail. Sanjay Singh's return signifies a potential turning point for AAP, infusing the party with renewed energy and direction as it gears up for the electoral battle ahead.

This release from jail has stirred discussions on whether this could sway AAP's fortunes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections-2024. The first benefit of Sanjay Singh's release will be that the party will get a strong leadership.

Sense of relief within party ranks

Until now, AAP's top leadership remained behind bars, casting a shadow over its political maneuvers and poll campaign. With Sanjay Singh's release, there's a palpable sense of relief within the party ranks.

AAP spokesperson Jasmine Shah said that Sanjay Singh is the loudest among all the voices raised against the Modi government. That is why he was forcibly sent to jail. Now the party is strongly engaged in the mission of winning all its seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

Sunita Kejriwal also stepped up her involvement

Following the detention of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the leadership reins have been collectively handled by leaders such as Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Gopal Rai, and Durgesh Pathak. Sunita Kejriwal, Arvind Kejriwal's wife, has also stepped up her involvement, addressing the public and media, notably during the recent opposition rally in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Raghav Chadha, another prominent AAP figure, remains abroad, with Bhagwant Mann assuming responsibilities in Punjab.

Release could invigorate AAP's grassroots supporters

Experts say Sanjay Singh's release could invigorate AAP's grassroots supporters and provide much-needed leadership amidst a leaderless phase.

As a founding member, Singh wields considerable influence within AAP, garnering respect from officials, MPs, leaders, and workers alike. His political acumen and extensive work in Punjab further solidify his standing within the party.

After his release from jail, Sanjay Singh addressed the workers in his very first tweet and wrote, “This is not a time for celebration, but a time for struggle. All patriotic workers should be ready for struggle. Our revolutionary friends Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain are in jail. The jail locks will be broken, our comrades will be freed.

Good influence among party cadre

Sanjay Singh is one of those leaders of Aam Aadmi Party who is politically very experienced. He has a good influence among the party cadre, officials, MPs and MLAs. Besides, he has done a lot of work in Punjab, so the party units in both Delhi and Punjab respects him a lot. In this respect also, he can provide a lot of benefits to the party.

AAP is contesting alone on all 13 seats in Punjab and four out of seven seats in alliance with Congress in Delhi.
