After hectic poll campaign, PM Modi to embark on spiritual retreat at Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Tamil Nadu


Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after an extensive campaign across the country for the Lok Sabha elections, will arrive at the renowned Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Tamil Nadu's Kanniyakumari district on May 30 for a spiritual retreat.


During his stay, the 73-year-old PM Modi will engage in a 48-hour meditation at the same location where Swami Vivekananda once meditated.


The scenic Vivekananda Rock Memorial is located near the monolithic statue of the Tamil saint Tiruvalluvar, situated mid-sea off the coast of Kanniyakumari, India's southernmost tip. The Prime Minister, who is aiming for his third term, will reach the memorial on Thursday evening and is expected to depart for Delhi on June 1.


Highly placed sources said that Modi will travel to Vivekananda Rock Memorial by boarding a boat from Poompuhar Shipping Corporation jetty, located about 1.5 km from the mainland, and will meditate in the meditation hall 'Dhyan Mandapam' inside the memorial from the evening of May 30 to June 1. His visit has no connection with any party function and is purely a spiritual one.


Sources said that after completing his meditation, he will leave for New Delhi via Thiruvananthapuram.


In view of the Prime Minister's visit, tight security arrangements will be made in Kanyakumari.


It is believed that Swami Vivekananda meditated for three days and nights on a rock in the middle of the sea until he attained enlightenment. Built in 1970 in honour of Swami Vivekananda, this iconic monument attracts thousands of tourists from India and abroad every year.


The extensive Lok Sabha elections, conducted in seven phases, are scheduled to conclude on June 1, with the vote counting set for June 4.



PM had meditated in a sacred cave near Kedarnath in 2019 also


Prior to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections outcome, PM Modi was captured in a photo meditating in a sacred cave near Kedarnath, clad in saffron attire.


The cave at the Kedarnath shrine where Prime Minister Narendra Modi meditated after 2019 polls saw an unprecedented boost in popularity.


The Congress party, facing setbacks from electoral defeats and numerous defections, is part of the Opposition alliance INDIA challenging the BJP.


The Prime Minister has instructed his ministers to devise an action plan for the initial 100 days of his new government,The extensive Lok Sabha elections, conducted in seven phases, are scheduled to conclude on June 1, with the vote counting set for June 4.
