MP Lok Sabha Election 2024: Akshay Kanti Bam's withdrawal to impact political standing of Jitu Patwari, what implications it will have for future?

MP Lok Sabha Election 2024: The recent intense political events in Indore are expected to influence the political landscape of the Malwa and Nimar region. The decision of Congress candidate Akshay Kanti Bam to withdraw his nomination on the final day of withdrawal has dealt a significant setback to the party. The management of the Congress party failed in handling this situation effectively.

This turn of events is likely to impact the political standing of State President Jitu Patwari, particularly since Indore is his home district and he was instrumental in securing the ticket for Akshay Kanti Bam.

Jitu Patwari, despite reluctance to run for candidacy, faced mounting pressure from various levels within the Congress, particularly from the Indore City Congress to the national arena, urging him to contest from Indore. To evade potential repercussions, he persuaded Akshay Kanti Bam to step in. The rationale behind this decision was Bam that Bam belonged to the Jain community. As he is running educational institutions, he is familiar with thousands of students of Indore and is able to shoulder the financial responsibilities.

Jitu Patwari could have enlisted the support of Badnawar MLA Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat. But he refrained from doing so to prevent Shekhawat's emergence in Indore.

Consequently, he made minimal efforts to convince Shekhawat. Evidently, Jitu Patwari's strategy was driven by his shrewdness. However, post-elections, navigating political complexities will pose challenges. Should the Congress perform poorly, Jitu Patwari's position as state president might become untenable, necessitating either his resignation or intervention from national leadership to appoint a successor.

Apart from Patwari, no other big leader is active in election campaign

The current situation in the state Congress is that apart from Jitu Patwari, no other big leader is active in the election campaign. Leaders like Arun Yadav, Ajay Singh, Dr. Govind Singh, Ashok Singh, Vivek Tankha, Bala Bachchan are fulfilling the formalities of issuing statements. The rift between Umang Singhar and Jitu Patwari continues. Digvijaay Singh and Kantilal Bhuria are entangled in their own elections. Kamal Nath has gone to Delhi after Chhindwara elections, because Jitu Patwari himself does not want Kamal Nath to remain active in the politics of the state.

Obviously nothing good is going on in the state Congress these days. Meanwhile, Indore and other seats of the division have also been affected by the developments in Indore. Especially in Ratlam Jhabua seat, Congress was ahead of BJP, but now the party will be on the back foot there too. Apart from this, BJP will spread all its big leaders of Indore in the tribal areas. Obviously the morale of Congress workers has been affected by the developments in Indore.
