MP Lok Sabha Election-2024: The BJP has nominated Jyotiraditya Scindia as its candidate by cutting the ticket of incumbent MP KP Yadav.
After 2002, this is the first occasion when Jyotiraditya Scindia is not contesting elections from the Congress party.
However, the BJP has thrown its full weight behind him. Senior leaders of the party have also campaigned for him.
Pankaj Chaturvedi, who came to the BJP from the Congress alongwith Scindia, is the spokesperson of the state BJP.
He says, "This time there is both sympathy for the Maharaja (Scindia) and support for the BJP. Besides, the demographic equation of this Lok Sabha seat with eight assembly constituencies is also in his favor."
He says, "A significant section of minorities has been with him from the beginning, just as it was with his father, Madhavrao Scindia. Therefore, they will easily win this seat with heavy margins."
Demographic Equation Poses a Challenge for Jyotiraditya
Some political analysts believe that despite these claims, the demographic equation still poses a challenge for Jyotiraditya. Especially in the Yadav-dominated areas, he may face a challenge.
The influence of Yadav voters is significant on the Ashok Nagar assembly seat, and their decisive role remains. After KP Yadav's ticket was cut, it remains to be seen how much support the Yadav community will give to Scindia.
This time, Congress has fielded Rao Yadavendra Singh Yadav on this seat, who has switched sides and embraced the Congress. That's why Amit Shah had to hold a rally in the Yadav-dominated areas of Ashok Nagar.
Attempt to woo Yadav voters
In the rally, Shah announced from the stage that KP Yadav will be given more responsibility. He did this to woo Yadav voters.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh also conducted a roadshow in this area. Until the last moments of campaigning, both major parties have put their full effort.
Scindia's prospects in this election appear better also because this time, alongside Modi's guarantee, the BJP completed the work of the consecration of the Ram temple and the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.
Certainly, even if Scindia does not win by a large margin, the demographics seem to be in his favor so far. As far as the Congress is concerned, making Rao Yadavendra Singh Yadav their candidate is their best move because apart from this, they had no other option against Scindia.
