T20 World Cup 2024: Why Rinku Singh is trending on X, what are people saying?

The Indian cricket team for the T20 World Cup 2024 has been announced. Rinku Singh's name is not included in the team.

Rinku finds himself out of the 15-member squad, but he secures a spot as a reserve player for the Indian team. His memorable moment came when he hammered GT's Yash Dayal for five consecutive sixes, clinching victory for KKR in a thrilling match. His T20I debut for India against Ireland in August 2023 marked the beginning of his impactful journey.

Since the team announcement, Rinku Singh has been trending on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Not only the general public but cricketers are also talking about him.

Former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu wrote, "Rinku Singh is a lone finisher in Indian cricket who can fulfill Dhoni's absence."

Meanwhile, Irfan Pathan wrote for Rinku Singh, "I think Rinku Singh's recent performances for Team India should not have been overlooked."

A user named Prasad wrote that not including Rinku Singh in the team is not his loss but Team India's loss.

A user named Ratanish wrote, "Feeling bad for Rinku Singh. Wherever he got a chance, he performed brilliantly, yet he was left out of the T20 World Cup. He is currently our best finisher."

Another user wrote that we have disappointed Rinku Singh. According to another user Rinku Singh deserves to be included in the T20 WC squad.

Prasanjit De wrote, "The way Rinku Singh has been left out of the 15-member team, this is the reason why India has not been able to win the T20 World Cup since 2007. The player who played a crucial role in T20 cricket in the toughest times should not have been left out. It's the lack of understanding of how T20 cricket works that India hasn't won the trophy in these years."

Rahul did not feature in Indian team at all

Meanwhile, KL Rahul did not feature in the Indian team at all

Rahul missed out completely from the World Cup squad as Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant have been chosen as the specialist wicket keeper-batters in the team. Rahul last featured in India's T20I squad during the semi-final against England in T20 World Cup 2022 on November 10.

Rahul had suffered a hamstring injury during IPL 2023 and had undergone surgery in May last year. He recovered well in time for the ODI World Cup 2023. However, he did not feature in the T20I matches for India after making a return to ODI and Test cricket.

The wicket-keeper batsman had drawn attention for his strike-rate in T20 cricket. Having played 72 matches, Rahul amassed 2265 runs with a top score of 110 not out at an average of 37.75, maintaining a strike-rate of 139.12. In the current IPL 2024 season, leading the LSG team, Rahul has notably scored 378 runs in 9 matches, showcasing an impressive strike-rate of 144.27.
