Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh by 8 runs in the Super 8 match of ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
With this victory, Afghanistan has reached the semi-finals of T20 World Cup. This is the first time that Afghanistan has reached the semi-finals of any ICC Trophy event. Apart from this, the big news is that Australia is out of the tournament.
Talking about the match, Afghanistan decided to bat first after winning the toss. Afghanistan scored only 115 runs after losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. Rishad Hossain took the highest number of wickets from Bangladesh, taking 3 wickets.

Due to rain, a target of 114 runs was set for Bangladesh in 19 overs according to Duckworth Lewis. Bangladesh team was all out at 105 runs. Afghanistan's Naveen Ul Haq and Rashid Khan took four wickets each.
Liton Das remained unbeaten after scoring 54 runs but his innings could not save the team from defeat.
Now both the semi-final matches are to be played on 27 June. In the first semi-final match, Afghanistan will face South Africa. The second match will be played between India and England.
The final match of ICC T20 World Cup will be played on 29 June in Bridgetown.
