Union Minister Lalan Singh has said that Om Birla has filed nomination for the post of Speaker on behalf of NDA.
Birla has been working in different positions in BJP for a long time, he started his career in politics as a student leader. He represents the Kota-Bundi constituency in Rajasthan and has been re-elected for a second term in the recent Lok Sabha elections 2024. Birla also served in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly for three terms.
At the same time, the Congress party has made K Suresh its candidate for the post of Speaker. K Suresh has been elected MP for the 8th time. India Alliance has the support of 234 MPs.

Earlier, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has said that the post of Deputy Speaker in the Lok Sabha should go to the opposition.
Akhilesh Yadav said, "Everything will be clear now. The opposition's demand is that the post of deputy speaker should go to the opposition."
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has also demanded that the post of deputy speaker should go to the opposition.
Rahul Gandhi has said that the opposition is ready to support the NDA candidate for the post of speaker, but the post of deputy speaker should go to the opposition.
Rahul Gandhi said, "Kharge ji received a call from Rajnath Singh yesterday evening. He has appealed that the opposition should support the name of the NDA candidate for the post of speaker."

Cong to support NDA candidate if Deputy Speaker post is given to it
Congress leader KC Venugopal has said that if the post of Deputy Speaker is given to the opposition, then he is still ready to support the NDA candidate for the post of Speaker.
KC Venugopal told news agency ANI, "We are still waiting. If the post of Deputy Speaker is given to the opposition, then we will agree on the name of the NDA candidate for the post of Speaker."
