J&K: Attack on Bus Carrying Pilgrims in Reasi: 10 Killed


In Reasi, Jammu and Kashmir, a terrorist attack targeted a bus carrying pilgrims, resulting in the deaths of 10 people and injuring many others. The incident occurred in the Kanda area of Reasi district as PM Modi and the new cabinet were being sworn in at a ceremony in New Delhi. Terrorist attack coincided with PM Modi's swearing-in ceremony in Delhi


The terrorists opened fire on the bus, injuring the driver and causing him to lose control, leading to the bus falling into a ditch. Ten passengers died on the spot, while several others sustained bullet injuries. Rescue operations for the remaining passengers are currently underway.


Bus was en route from Katra to Shiv Khodi temple


The bus was en route from Katra to the Shiv Khodi temple, a base camp for pilgrims visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. Bullet cartridges have been recovered from the scene of the attack.


A rescue operation was launched and reinforcements from police, army, and paramilitary forces rushed to the spot.


"Anguished by the loss of lives due to a bus mishap in Akhnoor. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover soon. Rs. 2 lakh would be given to the next of kin of each deceased due to the bus mishap. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000," Prime Minister Narendra Modi's office said in a post.
