UN made this big claim regarding India's population... Know what will be India's population in 2060!

The United Nations projects that India's population will peak at around 1.7 billion in the early 2060s, followed by a 12% decline. Despite this decrease, India is expected to remain the most populous country throughout the century.

Global population is set to grow significantly over next 50 to 60 years

According to the "World Population Prospects 2024" report, the global population is set to grow significantly over the next 50 to 60 years. In 2024, the world population will reach 8.2 billion and is projected to rise to approximately 10.3 billion by the mid-2080s. However, after reaching this peak, the global population is expected to gradually decline to around 10.2 billion by the end of the century.

India's population will hit 1.7 billion in early 2060s

India overtook China as the world's most populous country in 2023 and is expected to maintain this status until 2100. The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) Population Division report suggests that while India's population will hit 1.7 billion in the early 2060s, it will decrease to about 1.5 billion by 2100. Despite this reduction, India will still be the most populous country globally.

Claire Menozzi, a senior officer with the UN DESA Population Division, confirms that India is projected to remain the largest country by population throughout the century. Currently, India's population is estimated at 1.45 billion and is expected to grow to 1.69 billion before peaking in the 2060s. Afterward, the population will begin a gradual decline, reaching approximately 1.5 billion by the end of the century.

China's population may drop to 1.21 billion by 2054

Meanwhile, China's population is anticipated to decline significantly. From its current 1.41 billion, China's population is expected to drop to around 1.21 billion by 2054. The report predicts a steady decrease in China's population from 2024 to 2054, contributing to India's continued position as the most populous nation.

In summary, while India will experience both growth and decline in its population, it is projected to remain the most populous country throughout the century. This demographic trend highlights India's significant role in the global population landscape for the foreseeable future.
