Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the interim government in Bangladesh, today visited Dhakeshwari temple, a major Hindu temple of the country.
During an interaction meeting with the Hindu community at Dhakeshwari Temple he said he said that he and his colleagues want to make the country like a family
Yunus appealed not to divide the people by religion or ethnicity and said that there should be one law and one constitution for all the people of the country.
He said, "Instead of categorising ourselves as minorities or by other divisive terms, we should assert that we are the people of this country, and our democratic rights should be established."
He stated, "We are hearing about significant differences in the country. However, upon my arrival at the airport, I expressed our desire to create a sense of family in Bangladesh. There should be no divisions among families here. We are all citizens of Bangladesh. We are Bangladeshis, and we want to ensure this unity."
He urged the public to remain patient, acknowledging the current situation in Bangladesh. He emphasized that everyone’s support is essential during this time.
Muhammad Yunus remarked, "Your patience is invaluable and is helping us. Later, you can reflect on what I have done or have not done. If I have failed to act, then you can hold me accountable. But do this later not now."
After the unrest and protests in Bangladesh after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country on August 5, it is now being claimed that the situation has improved. Traffic police were seen on the roads on Monday. With this, the policemen had ended their strike.
US denies allegation
Meanwhile, the US has rejected the allegations of its role in the ouster of Sheikh Hasina from power in Bangladesh. The US has called it a mere rumour.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, "We have absolutely no involvement in this. Any report that says that the US government has a hand in the recent events (change of power in Bangladesh) is false. It is all a rumour."
She said, "This option has been chosen by the citizens of Bangladesh themselves. We believe that the people of Bangladesh should determine the future of the government there. As I said and will continue to say, none of the allegations are true."
