Pooja Khedkar denied anticipatory bail: UPSC had lodged FIR for fraud and forgery


The Delhi court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of ​​​​Pooja Khedkar, who was a trainee IAS officer. On Thursday, August 1, the Patiala House Court ordered the Delhi Police to investigate the rest of the candidates who committed fraud in the UPSC exam. Also, if any UPSC employee has helped Pooja, then he should also be investigated.


Pooja Khedkar was accused of giving civil services exam more than the prescribed limit by changing age, giving wrong information of parents, identity. After examining the documents, UPSC found Pooja guilty of violating the CSE-2022 rules. After this, UPSC had lodged an FIR against her.


She has cheated the system: UPSC lawyer


Pooja had filed an anticipatory bail plea to avoid arrest in this case of fraud and forgery. In the court, the UPSC lawyer had said that she has cheated the system. She is a resourceful person and there is a possibility of her misusing the law. The court had reserved the decision on Wednesday after hearing the arguments.


UPSC had cancelled Pooja's selection on Wednesday, July 31. Along with this, she was also barred from appearing in any UPSC exam in future. Pooja got 841st rank in the exam in 2022. She was a trainee IAS of 2023 batch and was on training since June 2024.


Show cause notice was issued on July 18


UPSC had told that a show cause notice was issued on July 18 for giving the civil services exam more times than the prescribed limit by changing the identity. It said that Pooja had to give her reply by July 25, but she sought time till August 4 to collect the necessary documents for her reply. The commission said - she was again given time till 3:30 pm on July 30, but she did not respond.
