Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced vacancies for the posts of Joint Secretary and Director under the Lateral Entry Scheme.
Appointments will be made in this vacancy under direct recruitment instead of promotion. However, the opposition is claiming that this recruitment decision will infringe upon the right to reservation.
The main opposition party Congress wrote in an x post, "BJP has once again attacked reservation. Modi government has issued an advertisement for lateral entry to fill about 45 posts of Joint Secretary, Director, Deputy Secretary at the Center."
According to Congress, "There is no reservation for OBC, SC, ST and EWS in this scheme. This is because Modi and BJP government are doing this deliberately so that these classes can be kept away from jobs."
Attack on the Constitution
Congress wrote that this step is an attack on the Constitution.
While Tejashwi Yadav wrote, "This advertisement serves as a small example of how the Modi government at the Center is undermining the Constitution and the reservation system established by Baba Saheb.
Former UP Chief Minister Mayawati also opposed it and wrote, "The decision of direct recruitment to 45 senior posts of Joint Secretary, Director and Deputy Secretary at the Center is not correct, because the employees working on lower posts through direct recruitment will be deprived of the benefits of promotion."
