Bhopal: 17 thousand gas victims get Ayushman card; MP govt is giving free benefits of 'Niramaya' Madhya Pradesh scheme


Bhopal: Ayushman cards are being made by the state government for Bhopal gas victims and their children under the Ayushman 'Niramaya' Madhya Pradesh scheme. So far, Ayushman cards of more than 17 thousand 423 gas victims have been made. 


With this card, all types of treatment facilities are being provided free of cost to gas victims and their children in 6 hospitals and 9 dispensaries operated under the Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Department.


Under the Ayushman Bharat 'Niramaya' Madhya Pradesh scheme, treatment facilities are also being provided to gas victims in all the contracted hospitals of the state. In special cases, if there is expenditure on treatment in addition to the package prescribed in this scheme, then the concerned hospital is reimbursed by the Gas Relief Department. 


Considering gas affected patients and their children as special cases for treatment of kidney, liver transplant and other types of serious diseases, patients are being provided treatment facilities as per requirement.

A contract has also been signed with three private hospitals and AIIMS Bhopal for free cancer treatment facility to Bhopal gas affected patients and their children.


State-of-the-art emergency units are being operated 24 hours a day for gas affected patients and their children in all the hospitals.


13 dialysis units have been established in Kamla Nehru Hospital, Bhopal for the treatment of kidney disease and critically ill patients of the victims and their children.


Gas affected widows (kalyanis) receiving social security pension are being given an additional pension of Rs. 1000 per month. At present, 4,406 gas affected widows are taking advantage of this.


Waste disposal process will start soon


The Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Department has completed the tender process for disposal of 337 metric tonnes of waste material in Union Carbide Factory premises, Bhopal. Disposal process will start soon. For this, a contract has also been signed with the successful tenderer M/s Pithampur Industrial Waste Management Private Limited. The department is taking action to dispose of the waste material located in the factory premises.
