IND vs BAN: Two Test match series between India and Bangladesh is set to begin on September 19, with Team India arriving in Chennai for the series. Bangladesh has also departed for India, and ahead of their arrival, captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto expressed his commitment to giving their best effort. The matches will take place at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.
Victory over Pakistan has boosted Bangladesh's confidence
Shanto acknowledged the challenges ahead, stating that while the series will be tough, their recent victory over Pakistan has boosted their confidence. "We aim to win both Tests, and to achieve that, we must continue to focus on our process. If we perform well, the results will follow," he said.
He also said that Team India holds a significant advantage in the Test rankings, but emphasized that Bangladesh has been playing well recently. "Our goal is to perform consistently throughout all five days of the Test matches. We will strive to maintain our performance until the last session to secure favorable outcomes," Shanto added.
Spinners are B'desh's strength
In terms of bowling, spinners are Bangladesh's strength against India. Shakib Al Hasan has taken 21 wickets in 8 Tests against India, with his best performance being 5 wickets for 62 runs, maintaining an economy rate of 3.52. He has achieved five wickets in an innings against India only once.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz has claimed 14 wickets in just 5 Tests against India, with a best of 5 wickets for 63 runs, although his economy rate exceeds 4, which is less favorable in Test cricket.
This series is crucial for India as they aim to secure victories to maintain their standing in the World Test Championship. Bangladesh's recent 2-0 Test series win over Pakistan at home has undoubtedly bolstered their morale.
