Political Turmoil in Bihar: A Picture of Nitish Kumar with Lalu Yadav Sparks Speculations, Will Bihar CM Again Part Ways with NDA?

A recent picture featuring Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD President Lalu Yadav has stirred the political waters in Bihar. The photograph, which shows Nitish Kumar assisting the ailing Lalu Yadav down a flight of stairs, is being analyzed for its deeper political implications. The image has led to speculation that Nitish Kumar might once again part ways with the NDA and return to the Grand Alliance.

The political landscape in Bihar is buzzing with questions: Is there another political realignment on the horizon? Will Nitish Kumar and the BJP split again? These questions have sparked a flurry of discussions and rumors across social media. However, beyond the speculation, it is crucial to understand the actual context.

Tejashwi Yadav met with Nitish Kumar

Two days before the photograph surfaced, on September 4, 2024, former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav met with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, which ignited a political storm. This meeting, and the subsequent photograph of Lalu Yadav and Nitish Kumar, led to a frenzy of speculations stretching from Patna to Delhi.

Speculations have not died down

Tejashwi Yadav later clarified the purpose of his meeting with Nitish Kumar to the media, but the damage had already been done, and the political debate was in full swing. Even though the truth behind the viral photograph and video has been revealed, the speculations have not died down.

Nitish publicly dismissed all rumors

In response to the heightened political rhetoric, Nitish Kumar publicly dismissed all rumors. In a statement made in the presence of Bharatiya Janata Party President and Union Health Minister JP Nadda at IGIMS in Patna, Nitish Kumar emphatically stated that his party has twice made the mistake of joining hands with RJD and that they will not repeat that mistake a third time.

Nitish criticized RJD leaders, particularly Tejashwi Yadav, for their lack of achievements and for engaging in propaganda through full-page advertisements in Delhi and Bihar newspapers, stating that such tactics would yield no results.

Political uproar continues

Despite Nitish Kumar's clear refutation, the political uproar over his meeting with Lalu Yadav continues. JDU national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan accused Tejashwi Yadav of irresponsibly fueling rumors and emphasized that Nitish Kumar has effectively countered these speculations. On Friday, Nitish Kumar reiterated that there is no question of re-aligning with the RJD.

Old video posted

The JDU has repeatedly needed to clarify its stance due to a video shared by Shailendra Yadav, who describes himself as a journalist and socialist on a social media platform. On Thursday night, he posted an old video from a 2022 meeting between Lalu Yadav and Nitish Kumar, suggesting that a new political "game" was unfolding in Bihar.

The misleading claim gained traction, especially as Tejashwi Yadav had met Nitish Kumar in the CM's office as the leader of the opposition earlier in the week to discuss the appointment of an Information Commissioner. This further fueled speculation and heated up the political climate in Bihar.

RJD is trying to create confusion: BJP

BJP spokesperson Neeraj Kumar addressed the situation by stating that the RJD is trying to create confusion by circulating an old video from two years ago. He reassured that such tactics would not change the fact that Bihar is on a path of development, noting that more than ten significant investments have been made in the state in the past month alone.

Nitish Kumar would not switch alliances: Pashupati Paras

Additionally, Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) national president Pashupati Paras commented on the social media-driven confusion regarding Nitish Kumar’s stance. Paras affirmed that Nitish Kumar would not switch alliances again and emphasized that the RJD's attempts to sow discord would not succeed.

Paras also stated that the NDA remains intact both nationally and in Bihar and that Nitish Kumar, having been insulted by the India Alliance, is firmly with the NDA. Paras predicted that in the next elections, the NDA alliance would secure a two-thirds majority to form the government.

In conclusion, while a simple photograph has sparked widespread speculation, the political reality, as articulated by Nitish Kumar and his allies, suggests otherwise. The Bihar political landscape remains dynamic, with leaders continuously maneuvering to clarify their positions amid the rumors and political noise.
