Sudhanshu Mittal, President of the Kho-Kho Federation of India, said on Wednesday that India will host the first Kho-Kho World Cup. Both men's and women's teams will be vying for dominance.
He said, "I am very proud to announce that India will host the first Kho-Kho World Cup with such a large participation."
This tournament will be played in the capital Delhi between January 13 and January 19 next year.
Sudhanshu Mittal said, "24 countries from all six continents will participate in this competition."
"The most important thing is that Pakistan, Iran and other countries will also participate in the competition, which will lead to tough competition and better results in this competition."
Mittal said further, ""Kho Kho is a sport of our country's mud. So, we are very proud to bring this sport to the mat. A big thank you to the federation which has worked hard to ensure that Kho Kho becomes an international sport,"
The event is set to highlight India's indigenous sport on an international platform.
At the announcement ceremony, an exhibition match took place between Team Maharashtra and the Rest of India, with Team Maharashtra winning by a score of 26-24.
The official logo and tagline for the World Cup, #TheWorldGoesKho, were also revealed during the event.
