War continues in the southern part of Lebanon
In the ongoing ground battle between Israel and Hezbollah in the southern part of Lebanon, the Israeli army reached Maroun al-Ras village 2 km inside on Wednesday. According to media reports, Israeli soldiers have also clashed with Hezbollah fighters here.
The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) said in its statement that eight of its soldiers lost their lives during the conflict on October 2. Earlier, an Israeli army captain Etan Itzhak Oster was killed. 22-year-old Captain Oster was Israel's first casualty in the ground war with Lebanon. The Israeli army said that along with Captain Oster, 7 more soldiers were killed in this conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon. An emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council has been called on the situation in the Middle East.
In this meeting, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that the fire that has erupted in the Middle East is now becoming increasingly fierce. He also condemned the missile attacks on Israel by Iran.
Guterres said that time is running out and an immediate ceasefire is needed.
What did Hezbollah claim?
Hezbollah claimed that the Israeli army tried to enter the Lebanese village of Adayseh, but Hezbollah fighters forced them to retreat. This is the first time that the conflict has taken place on Lebanese soil in recent weeks. Meanwhile, tensions have increased further since the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli airstrike. Hezbollah spokesman Mohammed Afif said: "This is just the beginning of the conflict." He said his fighters were fully prepared and the situation in south Lebanon was becoming serious.
