Maharashtra Assembly Elections-2024: Akhilesh Yadav demands 12 seats from Mahavikas Aghadi

The dates for the Maharashtra Assembly elections have been announced. Voting will take place in the state on November 20 and the results will be declared on November 23.

In the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party has demanded 12 seats from the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav gave this information while talking to the media.

Yadav said, "We have given information about those seats where the party is strong."

“We’re satisfied with a few seats,” Yadav stated, emphasizing the Samajwadi Party's aim to maintain a focused presence in the state. This new demand adds further complexity to the ongoing internal discussions within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which have yet to reach a resolution.

Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and NCP (Sharad Pawar) have united at the national level under the INDIA bloc but finalizing their seat-sharing arrangement in Maharashtra has proven to be a challenging process. When asked about the progress of the negotiations, Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole chose not to directly address any internal tensions but commented on the situation. “If Sanjay Raut is managing Uddhav Thackeray, that’s their matter,” he remarked, referring to the ongoing discussions within the alliance.

In contrast, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut reassured reporters that the seat-sharing talks were moving forward, mentioning meetings with both Uddhav Thackeray and Akhilesh Yadav. "By tonight, we will conclude the discussions, and our seat-sharing will be finalized," Raut confirmed, adding that agreements with the NCP had already been established.
