Cold Wave Continues Across North India Due to Snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh; Check IMD's Prediction

Snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh is causing a persistent cold wave in the northern states of India. An alert for dense fog has been issued by IMD in Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, and Haryana. IMD has also predicted that rain and snowfall are expected in the high mountains of Himachal Pradesh and J&K.

In Himachal Pradesh, a snowfall alert has been issued for three days in five districts: Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul Spiti, Kangra, and Chamba, where a drop in minimum temperatures is expected.

Meanwhile, temperatures in Kashmir are continuously dropping, with Pahalgam recording a night temperature of minus 3.4 degrees Celsius and Srinagar at minus 1 degree Celsius.

The cold winds from the northern states are also affecting Madhya Pradesh, where Bhopal has experienced its coldest November in 36 years, with temperatures reaching 8.2 degrees Celsius.

Coldest night in Delhi

Delhi recorded its coldest night of the season two days ago, on November 28, with a temperature of 10.1 degrees Celsius. Earlier, temperatures of 10.2 degrees Celsius on November 21 and 10.4 degrees Celsius on November 27 were noted. During the day, Delhi's maximum temperature reached 27 degrees Celsius, which is one degree above normal.

The icy winds have caused a significant drop in temperatures across Madhya Pradesh, leading to conditions similar to those of December and January. In Bhopal, the mercury has dipped to 8.2 degrees, while Mandla and Shahdol have recorded temperatures below 7 degrees.

Rain and snowfall expected in high mountains of HP

IMD has said rain and snowfall are expected in the high mountains of Himachal Pradesh over the next three days, potentially covering the peaks of Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul Spiti, Kangra, and Chamba in a white blanket of snow.

Additionally, a drop in temperatures in Rajasthan on Friday has led to increased cold in regions including Shekhawati, with minimum night temperatures falling below 10 degrees Celsius in Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Baran, Karauli, and Hanumangarh, along with Sikar, Churu, and Jhunjhunu.
