Excavation of stepwell is going on in Chandausi of Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh. On Wednesday, for the fifth day, this work is being carried out under the supervision of officers and the ASI team has also arrived for the survey.
A two-member team has inspected Rani Ki Bawdi. ASI has told the municipal corporation administration not to use machines in the excavation.
The ASI team has done the measurement, in which the distance between one corridor and the other corridor is 19 feet. The stepwell has been excavated up to 11 feet.
After digging 11 feet, one storey of the stepwell has become clearly visible. Keeping in mind the security arrangements, police force has been deployed in Chandausi.
The ASI team has photographed the entire stepwell. In the excavation done so far, a red stone floor has been found in the stepwell.
The excavation of this area in Sambhal is being done on the instructions of the administration. The administration was informed in a letter that there is a stepwell under the empty plot.
In the letter given to the administration, it was told that there is an ancient Rani ki Bawdi here. After this the District Magistrate of Sambhal ordered its excavation.
It was said in the complaint letter that this stepwell was built in the 19th century. After finding the stepwell, the administration had written a letter to the ASI to investigate it.
