A team from Uttar Pradesh's electricity department conducted an inspection at the residence of Zia-ur Rahman Barq, Samajwadi Party MP from Sambhal, on Thursday morning. The visit aimed to check the status of the electricity meter and related equipment at the MP's residence.

The inspection was carried out amid tight security, with a large number of policemen present to ensure order. The electricity department officials closely examined the meter setup and other equipment for compliance with regulations.

When questioned about the operation, Sambhal SDO Santosh Tripathi stated, "We are only calculating the electricity load." Meanwhile, Vandana Mishra, the district's Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), described the inspection as part of an ongoing campaign to curb electricity theft.
"This is our regular campaign against electricity theft," Mishra explained. "We had prior information that the electricity connection at this residence was not installed in compliance with the rules."
The inspection highlights the state's continued efforts to crack down on power theft and enforce stricter adherence to electricity usage regulations. Further action based on the findings is expected in the coming days.
