A judicial inquiry committee tasked with investigating the recent violence surrounding the survey of Shahi Jama Masjid arrived in Sambhal on Sunday.
The three-member committee inspected the mosque and the surrounding areas where clashes occurred. The committee entered the Shahi Jama Masjid under tight security arrangements to ensure a smooth assessment.
Before visiting the mosque, the committee also examined the site where violence erupted on November 24, following a court-mandated survey order. The unrest had drawn significant attention, prompting the Uttar Pradesh government to form the inquiry panel.
The judicial committee, established on Thursday, has been given a two-month deadline to investigate the events and submit a detailed report. The panel comprises retired High Court Justice Devendra Kumar Arora, former IAS officer Amit Mohan Prasad, and retired IPS officer Arvind Kumar Jain.
The investigation aims to uncover the factors leading to the violence and provide recommendations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
