Nargis Fakhri's Sister Aliya Fakhri Arrested for Double Murder in the US

In a shocking development, Aliya Fakhri, the sister of Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, has been arrested in the United States on charges of double murder and arson. The 43-year-old is accused of setting fire to a two-storey garage in Queens, New York, on November 2. The incident led to the deaths of her ex-boyfriend Edward Jacobs, 35, and his current girlfriend Anastasia Etienne, 33, both of whom succumbed to severe burns and smoke inhalation.

Girlfriend's Attempt to Save Jacobs

According to New York District Attorney Melinda Katz, Aliya arrived at the garage early in the morning and shouted a chilling threat to Jacobs: "Today, you all will die." Eyewitnesses reported seeing smoke billowing from the garage and attempted to rescue those trapped inside. 

Anastasia initially managed to escape the flames but ran back inside in an attempt to save Jacobs. Tragically, both perished in the blaze, with the attorney confirming that their deaths were caused by smoke inhalation and burns.

Facing Life Imprisonment if Convicted

Aliya Fakhri has been charged with four serious counts, including first-degree and second-degree murder, as well as arson. If convicted, she faces a potential sentence of life imprisonment. She is currently in custody, with the next court hearing scheduled for December 9.

Troubled Relationship and Prior Threats

Jacobs’ mother revealed that the relationship between Aliya and Jacobs had been tumultuous, marked by frequent disputes and abuse. Witnesses disclosed that Alia had previously threatened to burn down Jacobs' house. Jacobs ended the relationship a year ago, but Alia reportedly refused to accept the breakup, which may have driven her to commit this heinous act.

Aliya’s Mother Speaks Out

In an emotional statement to the media, Aliya’s mother expressed disbelief over the accusations. "I can’t believe my daughter could do something like this. She has always been kind and helpful," she said. She also revealed that Aliya developed an addiction to opioids following dental treatment, which negatively impacted her mental health.
