Rajouri Mysterious Illness: An unknown disease has spread in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. So far 8 people have died due to this disease. On Wednesday, another child died succumbed to this mysterious disease in Rajouri hospital. Health department officials are worried in view of the increasing number of deaths due to this disease. In view of the increasing cases of this disease, a central committee has been formed to investigate its spread in the village.
Rajouri district Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abhishek Sharma visited Badhal village in Kotranka tehsil of Rajouri on Monday to assess the ground situation. Seven children below the age of 14 years are among those who died of the unknown disease. Health department officials have said that a Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) mobile lab has been sent to Rajouri to speed up testing and identify the disease. These cases have been reported in Badhal village.
3 children of the same family succumb
Three children of the same family of Badhal village have died due to this disease. The most recent case is of Wednesday. Mohammad Rafiq's twelve-year-old son Ashfaq Ahmed died on Wednesday during treatment at the Government Medical College of Jammu. Ashfaq was admitted to the hospital for the last 6 days after being affected by the same disease. Earlier, Ashfaq's seven-year-old younger brother Ishtiaq and his five-year-old sister Nazia also succumbed to the same disease. All the 8 deceased who lost their lives due to the mysterious disease belonged to two families of the same village.
Local people advised to be cautious
According to the health department officials, there is not much information about this disease so far. In such a situation, local people have been advised to be cautious. Investigation will definitely be done by reaching the village with the help of mobile lab. Along with this, the central team will assess these investigation reports. Only after this will it be known what is the cause of the disease.
