Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on the opposition, saying that whoever speaks the truth in the country, he is threatened with impeachment. He made this comment on Saturday on the impeachment motions brought by the opposition against Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Allahabad High Court judge Justice Shekhar Yadav.
Yogi Adityanath said, "Whoever speaks the truth, these people (opposition) threaten him with impeachment and then talk about the Constitution. The whole country is watching their double standards."
Should UCC be not implemented in the country?
The Chief Minister supported Justice Shekhar Yadav, saying that he talked about the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and told that the sentiments of the majority community are respected all over the world. He questioned, "If someone expressed such an opinion, how did it become a crime? Should the Uniform Civil Code be not implemented in the country?"
Dhankhar is fulfilling his responsibilities with utmost impartiality
Yogi Adityanath called the impeachment motion against Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar an attack on the son of a farmer. He said, "As the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Vice President Dhankhar is performing his duties with complete impartiality. The opposition cannot tolerate that a farmer's son is carrying out such a high responsibility. There are attempts to silence those who speak out for truth and national interest."
Attacking the Congress, Yogi Adityanath said that strangling the Constitution is an old habit of the Congress. He said, "These people invoke the Constitution, but when someone speaks the truth or works in accordance with the Constitution, they try to silence him by threatening impeachment."
The opposition alliance INDIA accused the Vice President of favoring the NDA while performing his duties as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
Justice Yadav of the Allahabad High Court had emphasized the need for a Uniform Civil Code, for which the opposition targeted him and demanded an impeachment motion against him.
The Chief Minister said that the country needs such leaders and judiciary who advocate truth and reforms without coming under pressure. He talked about taking concrete steps towards implementing issues like Uniform Civil Code.
