Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the Ladli Bahana Yojana in 2023 aimed at empowering women in the state. As of early 2025, major updates regarding the scheme have emerged.
Currently, about 2.47 crore women benefit from the scheme. However, the Madhya Pradesh government has informed that the names of 1.63 lakh women will be removed from the beneficiary list. This decision affects women above the age of 60, who will no longer receive financial assistance under the Ladli Bahana Yojana. Initially, the scheme provided beneficiaries a monthly payment of Rs 1,000, which was subsequently hiked to Rs 1,250.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that on the occasion of Youth Day on January 12, the amount for the month of January will be transferred to the Ladli Bahnas of the state from Kalapipal district Shajapur.
Kamal Nath slams govt
In response to these developments, former CM Kamal Nath has slammed the government on social media platform X, alleging that the ruling BJP is undermining the scheme. He said that the government is reducing the number of beneficiaries instead of fulfilling their earlier promise to hike the monthly assistance to Rs 3,000.
