A four-storey building collapsed in Delhi's Burari area on Monday evening. Many workers were trapped in it. Rescue operations are underway.
Delhi Police DCP North Raja Banthia said that as soon as police recived information the police and fire brigade teams were sent to the spot. It was a four-storey building built in 200 yards, which collapsed. Many workers were trapped in its debris, Banthia said.
The DCP said, "Some NDRF teams have also reached here. We have rescued ten people so far. But, we fear that 10-12 people are still trapped inside the debris. On this basis, rescue operations are going on."
After the incident, the entire area has been sealed. The police administration has cordoned off the entire area. Apart from this, the local administration is engaged in rescue work. At the time of the incident, a loud sound was heard. After receiving the information, the employees reached the spot and started rescue work.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal posted a post on Twitter.
He wrote, "This incident is very sad. I have instructed our MLA from Burari, Sanjeev Jha ji, to immediately go there with party workers and help the administration in relief and rescue work. Help the local people in every possible way."
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi wrote on Instagram, "This incident of building collapse in Burari is very sad. I have spoken to the local administration to ensure speedy relief and rescue work. All possible help will be given to the affected people."
