Many videos featuring IITian Baba, known for his rise to fame during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025, have gone viral, prompting reactions from users online. The real name of IITian Baba is Abhay Singh, who earlier studied at IIT Bombay. Recently, news has emerged regarding his unexpected disappearance from the Mahakumbh.
In light of this development, many are seeking more information about him. Abhay Singh, who left a lucrative job to pursue spirituality, has rejectedreports about his disappearance. He has distanced himself from the Juna Akhara ashram during the Mahakumbh.
'Abhay Singh had not formally become a monk'
Srimahant Narayan Giri, the international spokesperson for Juna Akhara, said that Abhay Singh had not formally become a monk; rather, he arrived from Lucknow and was presenting himself as a self-proclaimed monk. He came to the Mahakumbh with Mahant Someshwar Guru, but due to his use of offensive language on social media about his guru, he has been banned from the camp and its vicinity.
'Singh's actions are contrary to the values of the guru-disciple tradition'
Giri emphasized that Abhay Singh's actions are contrary to the values of the guru-disciple tradition and the principles of sanyas. He said that respect for one's guru is essential, and without it, one cannot uphold the values of Sanatan Dharma. Discipline is crucial within the Juna Akhara, and Abhay Singh's discourteous conduct has violated this tradition.
The discipline committee of the Akhara has recommended action against him, leading to his expulsion. Abhay Singh had previously claimed in a social media video that after studying at IIT Bombay, he worked in aerospace engineering before choosing to become a sanyasi.
He is now facing backlash for allegedly using abusive language against both his father and guru in a video, which has led to anger among the saints, culminating in his removal from the Akhara camp on Saturday night.
What did Abhay Singh say on the claim of poor mental health?
Abhay Singh's fellow saints accused him of having poor mental health. He is mentally disturbed due to constant interaction with the media. They also accused Singh of taking drugs. Singh rejected these claims. The former engineer countered the allegations and said, "He should know more than me to give me any kind of certificate."
