An IED blast took place in Laloli area near LoC in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district. Two army soldiers were martyred in this. The condition of one is critical. The army is searching the area.
Army sources claimed that the names of the martyred soldiers are Captain KS Bakshi and Mukesh. However, this has not been confirmed.
Defense Ministry spokesperson told media the soldiers were patrolling when the blast took place. Earlier on January 14, six soldiers of Gorkha Rifles were injured in a landmine blast near LoC in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir. The blast took place in Makri area of Bhawani sector.
There were 2 such incidents in 2024. On 9 December 2024, there was an explosion in Poonch, Jammu, in which a soldier was martyred.
In October 2024 also, there was a blast in a mine in Kupwara, in which 2 army personnel were injured.
