2 jawans martyred, one critical in IED blast near LoC in Jammu's Akhnoor sector

An IED blast took place in Laloli area near LoC in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district. Two army soldiers were martyred in this. The condition of one is critical. The army is searching the area.


Army sources claimed that the names of the martyred soldiers are Captain KS Bakshi and Mukesh. However, this has not been confirmed.


Defense Ministry spokesperson told media the soldiers were patrolling when the blast took place. Earlier on January 14, six soldiers of Gorkha Rifles were injured in a landmine blast near LoC in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir. The blast took place in Makri area of ​​Bhawani sector.


There were 2 such incidents in 2024. On 9 December 2024, there was an explosion in Poonch, Jammu, in which a soldier was martyred.


In October 2024 also, there was a blast in a mine in Kupwara, in which 2 army personnel were injured.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
