Were Indians Handcuffed in 2nd US Deportation Flight? What Bhagwant Mann Said? When Will 3rd Flight Land?

The United States has forcibly deported 116 Indians residing illegally in the country, with the majority being men who were handcuffed during their return. They arrived at Amritsar airport on a U.S. Air Force Globemaster flight at 11:30 PM on Saturday.

Upon landing, the deportees were reunited with their families after a verification process lasting approximately five hours, during which they were not permitted to speak with the media. This follows a previous incident on February 5, when 104 non-resident Indians (NRIs) were similarly returned, also in handcuffs. A third batch of 157 NRIs is scheduled to arrive today at 10 PM.

Among those returned on Saturday, 65 were from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, 8 from Gujarat, and smaller numbers from Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. Most of the deportees are between the ages of 18 and 30.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann previously questioned why the plane landed in Punjab when the largest groups were from Haryana and Gujarat. In this latest batch, however, the majority were from Punjab.

An image from Amritsar airport shows a Sikh youth without a turban, though the reason for this is unclear.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had earlier reached Amritsar airport to receive them, but he returned due to delay in the arrival of the plane. After this, two ministers from the Punjab government, Kuldeep Dhaliwal and Harbhajan Singh, received the youth from Punjab.

During this, Minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal reached Amritsar airport at 1 am and said that he was very sad that the Haryana government sent a bus for carrying prisoners for its people deported from America.

He told Haryana’s Transport Minister Anil Vij that Punjab has deployed good vehicles. Vij is the Transport Minister, he should have sent a good bus. No minister, MLA or BJP leader from Haryana came here.
