The nine-day Chaitra Navratri festival will commence on Sunday, March 30, 2025, and will continue until Sunday, April 6, 2025. This festival holds special significance for the worship of Maa Durga.
During this period, devotees honor Maa Durga, believing that worshiping her during Navratri alleviates their troubles and fulfills their wishes. Additionally, if there is Vastu Dosh in a person's home, specific measures can be taken during this time to mitigate it. Here are some Vastu remedies to consider during Navratri.
Install the Idol of Maa Durga in the House
To alleviate Vastu Dosh, it is recommended to install an idol of Maa Durga and perform rituals. According to Vastu Shastra, placing the idol in the north-east direction is auspicious and helps maintain positive energy in the home.
Light the Akhand Jyoti
Lighting an akhand jyoti (eternal flame) holds special significance during Navratri. This flame should be positioned in the south-east direction of the house. Doing so is believed to dispel negative energy and bring happiness and prosperity to the family. The term 'Akhand' means uninterrupted, and 'Jyot' refers to flame; thus, an oil or ghee lamp is lit continuously for 9–10 days in reverence of the Mother Divine (Durga).
Lighting a Ghee Lamp
Lighting a ghee lamp daily during the aarti of the gods and goddesses is considered very auspicious. According to Vastu Shastra, this lamp should be placed on the right-hand side to invite the presence of Mother Durga into the home and eliminate Vastu defects.
Importance of Chaitra Navratri
The festival of Chaitra Navratri begins on the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha in the Chaitra month and concludes with Ram Navami on the final day. This festival is significant both religiously and culturally, marking the beginning of the harvest season for farmers. During Navratri, the nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshiped, bringing peace, power, and prosperity to various aspects of life. Through special meditation and sadhana during these nine days, devotees often experience positive changes in their lives.
